Starter - Hold-In Coil Inspection, Magnetic Switch Plunger Return Inspection, No-Load Test

~1min read

1. Disconnect the stator winding wire from the "M" terminal of the magnetic switch.

2. Connect the wires from the 12 V battery terminals to the "S" (+) terminal and the starter body.

Perform this check quickly, for no more than 10 seconds, to prevent the starter winding from burning out.

3. Если ведущая шестерня, выдвинутая вручную до упора, остается в выдвинутом

3. If the pinion gear, pushed out manually until it stops, remains in the extended position, the hold-in coil is good. If the pinion gear retracts, the hold-in coil is open. In this case, replace the magnetic switch.

MAGNETIC SWITCH PLUNGER RETURN INSPECTION

1. Disconnect the stator winding wire from the "M" terminal of the magnetic switch.

2. Connect the wires from the 12 V battery terminals to the "M" terminal and the starter body.

Perform this check quickly, for no more than 10 seconds, to prevent the starter winding from burning out.

3. Выдвиньте рукой ведущую шестерню и отпустите. Если ведущая шестерня сразу

3. Push the pinion gear out by hand and release it. If the pinion gear immediately returns to its original position, the magnetic switch is good. If not, replace the magnetic switch.

NO-LOAD TEST

1. Assemble the no-load test circuit as shown in the illustration.

2. Реостатом отрегулируйте напряжение аккумуляторной батареи так, чтобы вольтметр

2. Using the rheostat, adjust the battery voltage so that the voltmeter reads 11.5 V. Check that the maximum current draw is within the specified value, and that the starter armature rotates freely, without jerking or binding.

RATED CURRENT: 60 A or less
