AEB Operation

~2min read

Warning Message

A warning message and audible signal will appear when you need to use the brake pedal or steering wheel due to a sudden stop or lack of distance from the vehicle ahead. Warning messages will vary depending on the severity of the situation. Immediately reduce speed to prevent a collision.

Brake Operation

In a critical situation:

  • The Autonomous Emergency Braking system is activated and enters standby mode for quick response when the driver depresses the brake pedal.
  • The vehicle automatically reduces speed depending on the severity of the situation.
    - Quickly reduces speed when the vehicle speed is below 50 mph (80 km/h)
    - Slowly reduces speed when the vehicle speed exceeds 80 km/h
  • If the driver uses the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed, the brake assist system operates to increase braking performance.
  • If the driver depresses the accelerator pedal forcefully or turns the steering wheel rapidly, the brake assist system is deactivated.

Seat Belt Operation

The driver and passenger seat belts may tighten if the system detects that a vehicle or object is close.

Changing the Automatic Emergency Mode

In a critical situation, to help avoid a collision, the Automatic Emergency Mode automatically controls the Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). When the critical situation has ended, the Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) return to their previous status.

✽ NOTICE

  • If AEB is canceled in the User Settings Mode or there is a problem with the AEB system, the Automatic Emergency Mode will not operate.
  • If ESC is turned off or there is a problem with the ESC system, the Automatic Emergency Mode will not operate.
  • ESC must be on for the Automatic Emergency Mode to control ESC in the event of a collision.

WARNING

The Automatic Emergency Mode is a supplemental system to assist you, and its effectiveness may vary depending on road and driving conditions. The vehicle cannot automatically avoid a collision. Do not rely solely on the system and always pay attention to prevent hazardous situations from occurring.
