Brake Fluid

Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir.
The brake fluid level must be between the "MAX" and "MIN" marks on the reservoir.
The brake fluid level drops slightly as the brake pads wear; this does not indicate a malfunction.
If the brake fluid level drops significantly in a short period of time, this indicates a leak in the brake system. In this case, have the vehicle checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
Use SAE J1703 (or DOT3 or DOT4) brake fluid or brake fluid of an equivalent type.
If the vehicle is equipped with a brake fluid level warning lamp, the brake fluid level is monitored by a float switch. When the brake fluid level drops below the "MIN" mark, the brake fluid level warning lamp illuminates.
1. Use only specified brake fluid. Avoid mixing different brands whenever possible, as mixing different additives may cause a chemical reaction.
2. Be extremely careful when adding brake fluid, as it is toxic, corrosive, and can damage eyes and paint. If brake fluid gets in your eyes, flush them with clean water.
