Engine Coolant

The translucent coolant reservoir is located in the engine compartment.
The coolant level in this reservoir must be maintained between the "LOW" and "FULL" marks; it is checked with the engine warm and running at idle. The cooling system is a sealed system, and under normal conditions coolant loss should be very minimal. A noticeable drop in coolant level indicates a leak.
If this occurs, have the system checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible.
If the level drops below the "LOW" mark on the reservoir, add coolant.
Also, if the reservoir is completely empty, remove the radiator cap and add coolant until the level reaches the filler neck.
CAUTION:
Do not open the reservoir cap or the radiator cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system is under pressure, and hot coolant released under pressure can cause serious scalding.
Antifreeze
The engine coolant contains an ethylene glycol anti-corrosion agent.
The cylinder head and water pump housing are made of cast aluminum alloy. Engine coolant must be replaced periodically to prevent corrosion of these components.
Because anti-corrosion agent is required, do not replace the coolant with plain water, even in summer.
The required antifreeze concentration depends on the expected outside air temperature.

CAUTION:
For effective anti-corrosion and antifreeze performance, maintain the antifreeze concentration between 30 and 60 %. Exceeding a concentration of 60 % will reduce the anti-corrosion and antifreeze effect, which will adversely affect the engine.
