AUTO (Automatic) Operation
In this manual: Convenient Features of Your Vehicle
~1min read

The rain sensor located at the upper end of the windshield detects the amount of precipitation and controls the wiping cycle for the proper interval. The heavier the rain, the faster the wipers operate.
When the rain stops, the wipers stop. To change the speed setting, turn the speed control knob (1).
If the wiper switch is set to the AUTO position when the ignition key is in the ON position, the wiper will operate once to perform a system self-check. Set the wiper switch to the OFF position when the wipers are not in use.
WARNING
To avoid injury from the wipers when the engine is running and the wiper switch is in the AUTO mode:
- Do not touch the upper edge of the windshield rain sensor cover.
- Do not wipe the upper end of the windshield with a wet or damp cloth.
- Do not apply pressure to the windshield.
NOTICE
- When washing the vehicle, set the wiper switch to the O position to stop the automatic wiper operation. The wipers may operate and be damaged if the switch is in the AUTO mode while the vehicle is being washed.
- Do not remove the sensor cover located at the upper end of the windshield on the passenger side. Damage to system components may occur and may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
