System Malfunction

Check the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system.

Hyundai Ioniq. System Malfunction
  • When the FCA is not operating properly, the FCA indicator light (Hyundai Ioniq. System Malfunction) will illuminate and a warning message will appear for a few seconds. After the message disappears, the master warning light (Hyundai Ioniq. System Malfunction) will illuminate. In this case, have the vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • The FCA warning message may appear together with the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) indicator light.

WARNING

  • FCA is only an auxiliary system for the driver's convenience. The driver is responsible for controlling the vehicle. Do not rely solely on the FCA system. Always maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed.
  • In some cases and under certain driving conditions, the FCA system may activate unintentionally. The initial warning message appears on the LCD display with an audible warning. In addition, in some cases the front radar sensor or camera recognition system may not detect a vehicle or pedestrian ahead. The FCA system may not activate and the warning message will not be displayed.
  • Even if there is a problem with the FCA brake control function, the basic braking characteristics of the vehicle will operate normally. However, the collision-avoidance brake control function will not be activated.
  • If the vehicle ahead suddenly stops, you may have less braking control over your vehicle. Therefore, always maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
  • The FCA system may activate during braking, and the vehicle may stop suddenly, causing unsecured items to move toward the passengers. Always secure loose items.
  • The FCA system may not activate if the driver depresses the brake pedal to avoid a collision.
  • Braking control may be insufficient, which may result in a collision if the vehicle ahead stops suddenly. Always exercise extreme caution.
  • Passengers may be injured if the vehicle stops suddenly due to the activated FCA system. Be extremely careful.

WARNING

  • The FCA system only detects vehicles or pedestrians in front of the vehicle.
  • The FCA system does not operate when the vehicle is moving in reverse.
  • The FCA system is not designed to detect other objects on the road, such as animals.
  • The FCA system does not detect vehicles in the oncoming lane.
  • The FCA system does not detect approaching vehicles crossing the path of the vehicle.
  • The FCA system cannot detect a vehicle approaching from the side or a parked vehicle (for example, on a dead-end street).

In these cases, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce vehicle speed and ensure a safe distance.
