The driver can activate FCA by placing the Engine Start/Stop button in ON and selecting: User Settings → Driver Assistance → Forward Collision Warning. Assist

FCA is deactivated when the driver cancels the system setting.

When FCA is deactivated, an indicator light illuminates on the LCD display. The driver can check the FCA ON/OFF status on the LCD display. In addition, the warning illuminates when ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is turned off (Traction and Stability Control System deactivated).

If the warning light remains illuminated when FCA is activated, have the system checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

The driver can select the timing of the initial forward collision warning on the LCD display. Select User Settings → Driver Assistance → Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist → Early/Normal/Late.

The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) initial warning timing options are as follows:

• Early:

When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated earlier than normal. This setting maximizes the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning is issued.

Even though "Early" is selected, if the vehicle ahead suddenly decelerates, the timing of the initial warning may not seem as early.

• Normal:

When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated at the normal timing. This setting provides a standard distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning is issued.

• Late:

When this setting is selected, the initial forward collision warning is activated later than normal. This setting reduces the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle or pedestrian ahead before the initial warning is issued.

Select "Late" when traffic is light and driving speed is low.

Activation Conditions

The FCA system is on and ready when FCA is selected on the LCD display and the following conditions are met:

- ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is on.
- Vehicle speed is above approximately 10 km/h. (FCA is activated only within a specific speed range.)
- The system detects a pedestrian or vehicle ahead that may collide with your vehicle. (FCA may not activate or may issue a warning depending on the driving situation or vehicle condition.)

WARNING

  • Completely stop the vehicle in a safe location before using the switch on the steering wheel to turn the FCA system on/off.
  • FCA is automatically activated when the engine start/stop button is pressed to the ON position. The driver can deactivate FCA by changing the system setting on the LCD display.
  • If ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is turned off while the FCA system is on, FCA is automatically deactivated and the FCA warning light illuminates. When ESC is turned off, FCA cannot be activated on the LCD display. The FCA warning light illuminating is normal.
