HomeLink® Wireless Control System

Your new mirror comes with a built-in HomeLink Universal Transceiver, which allows you to program the mirror to activate garage doors, gate operators, home lighting, etc. The mirror learns the codes from your existing remote transmitters.

WARNING

  • When programming the HomeLink® Wireless Control System, you may operate a garage door or gate operator. Make sure people and objects are clear of the moving door or gate to prevent potential injury or damage.
  • Do not use HomeLink with any garage door opener that lacks safety stop and reverse features as required by U.S. federal safety standards. (This includes any garage door opener model manufactured before April 1, 1982.) A garage door opener that cannot detect an object and signal the door to stop and reverse does not meet current U.S. federal safety standards. Using a garage door opener without these features increases the risk of serious injury or death. For more details, call 1-800-355-3515 or visit www.homelink.com.

Keep the original transmitter for future programming procedures (e.g., purchasing a new vehicle). It is also recommended that when selling the vehicle, the programmed HomeLink buttons be erased for security reasons (perform step 1 in the "Programming" section of this text).

Programming

Your vehicle may require the ignition switch to be turned to the ACC position to program and/or operate HomeLink. It is also recommended that a new battery be installed in the handheld transmitter being programmed to HomeLink for faster training and accurate radio frequency transmission.

Perform the following steps to train the HomeLink Mirror:

1. When programming the buttons for the first time, press and hold the left and center buttons ( , ) at the same time for approximately 20 seconds, until the indicator light begins to flash. (This procedure erases the factory default codes. Do not perform this step to program additional handheld transmitters.)

NOTICE

For garage door openers with a fixed code, perform steps 2-3.

For garage door openers with a rolling code, perform steps 2–6.

For Canadian programming, please follow the Canadian Programming section.

For help determining whether your garage door opener uses a fixed code or rolling code, see the garage door opener manual or contact HomeLink customer service at 1-800-355-3515.

2. Press and hold the HomeLink button you want to train and the button on the transmitter while holding the transmitter approximately 1 to 3 inches (25 to 75 mm) away from the mirror. Do not release the buttons until Step 3 is complete.

3. The HomeLink indicator light will flash slowly at first, then rapidly. When the indicator light flashes rapidly, both buttons can be released. (A rapidly flashing light indicates successful programming of the new frequency signal.)

NOTICE

Some gate operators and garage door openers may require you to replace Step 3 with the "Rolling Code" procedure described in the "Canadian Programming" section of this document.

Rolling Code Programming

To train a garage door opener (or other device equipped with rolling code technology), follow these instructions after completing the "Programming" section of this text. (A second person may make it easier to follow the training procedure.)

4. Locate the "Learn" or "Smart" button on the motor head unit of the device. The exact location and color of the button may vary depending on the product brand. If you have difficulty locating the "Learn" or "Smart" button, refer to the device owner's manual or contact HomeLink at 1-800-355-3515 or visit www.homelink.com.

5. Press and release the "Learn" or "Smart" button on the motor head unit. You have 30 seconds to complete Step 6.

6. Return to the vehicle and firmly press and release the programmed HomeLink button up to three times. The rolling code device should now recognize the HomeLink signal and activate when the HomeLink button is pressed. The remaining two buttons can now be programmed if this has not already been done. Refer to the "Programming" section of this text.

Operating HomeLink

To operate, simply press the programmed HomeLink button.

Activation will now occur for the trained product (garage door, security system, front door lock, gate operator, or home or office lighting). For convenience, the original hand-held transmitter of the device can also be used at any time. The HomeLink Wireless Control System (after programming) or the original hand-held transmitter can be used to activate the device (for example, garage door, front door lock, etc.). If you still have difficulty programming, contact HomeLink at 1-800-355-3515 or visit www.homelink.com.

Erasing Programmed HomeLink Buttons

To erase all three programmed buttons (individual buttons cannot be erased):

• Press and hold the left and center buttons at the same time until the indicator light begins to flash (approximately 20 seconds). Release both buttons. Do not hold for more than 30 seconds.

HomeLink is now in training (learning) mode and can be programmed at any time.

Gate Operator and Canadian Programming

During programming, your hand-held transmitter may automatically stop transmitting. Continue pressing the HomeLink® Wireless Control System button (refer to Steps 2 through 3 in the Programming section of this document) while pressing and releasing ("cycling") your hand-held transmitter every two seconds until the frequency signal has been learned. The indicator light will flash slowly, then rapidly, a few seconds after successful training.
