Transmission Hot! Park with engine running

Hyundai Palisade. LCD display message
  • Under certain conditions, such as repeated stop-and-go starts on steep inclines, sudden takeoff or acceleration, or other severe driving conditions (muddy or sandy roads), the transmission temperature will rise excessively. Eventually the transmission may overheat.
  • If the vehicle continues to be driven and the automatic transmission temperature reaches the maximum temperature limit, the "Transmission Hot! Park with Engine Running" warning will be displayed. When this occurs, the automatic transmission is disabled until it cools to normal temperature.
  • The warning will display the time to wait until the transmission cools down.
  • In this case, stop in a safe place, stop the vehicle with the engine running, depress the brake pedal, shift the vehicle into P (Park), and allow the transmission to cool down.
  • When the message "Transmission Cooled. Resume Driving" appears, you can continue driving your vehicle.
  • Drive the vehicle smoothly whenever possible.
