The positive crankcase ventilation system helps prevent air pollution caused by gases emitted from the crankcase. This system supplies filtered fresh air to the crankcase through the air intake hose. In the crankcase, this fresh air mixes with the gases, then is drawn into the intake system through the PCV valve.
