Closing the Fuel Filler Door
1. To install the fuel cap, turn it clockwise until it clicks once.
2. Close the fuel filler door until it is securely locked.
Information
To lock the fuel filler door, make sure the fuel filler door is fully closed. Press the LOCK button on the remote key or smart key to lock the vehicle. The fuel filler door will also be locked.
Note that if the fuel filler door is not fully closed when the vehicle is locked, the fuel filler door will not be locked.
PLEDGE
Make sure the fuel filler door is fully closed before driving through a car wash or using a high-pressure washer.
WARNING
Vehicle fuel is highly flammable and explosive. Failure to follow these recommendations may result in SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH:
- Read and follow all warnings posted at the fueling station.
- Before refueling, note the location of the emergency gasoline shut-off, if available, at the station.
- Before touching the fuel nozzle, eliminate potential static electricity buildup by touching a metal part of the vehicle, a safe distance away from the filler neck, nozzle, or other source of gasoline, with your bare hand.
- Do not use mobile phones while refueling. Electrical current and/or electronic interference from cellular phones may potentially ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire.
- Do not get back into the vehicle once you have started refueling. You may build up static electricity by touching, rubbing, or sliding over any object or fabric capable of generating static electricity. A static electricity discharge may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire. If you need to re-enter the vehicle, you must first discharge the potentially dangerous static electricity by touching a metal part of the vehicle away from the fuel filler neck, nozzle, or other fuel source, with your bare hand.
- When using an approved portable fuel container, always place the container on the ground before refueling. A static electricity discharge from the container may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire. After you have started refueling, do not touch the vehicle with your bare hand until refueling is completed.
- Use only approved portable plastic fuel containers designed for transporting and storing fuel.
- When refueling, always shift the gear selector to P (Park), set the parking brake, and turn the ignition switch to LOCK or the engine start/stop button to OFF. Sparks produced by electrical components related to the engine may ignite fuel vapors and cause a fire.
- Do not use matches or a lighter, and do not smoke or leave a lit cigarette in your vehicle at a service station, especially during refueling.
- Do not overfill or top off the vehicle fuel tank, as this may cause gasoline to spill.
- If a fire occurs during refueling, leave the vehicle area immediately, contact the station attendant at once, and then contact the local fire department. Follow any safety instructions they provide.
- If pressurized fuel sprays out, it may cover your clothing or skin and thus expose you to the risk of ignition and burns. Always remove the fuel tank cap carefully and slowly. If fuel sprays from the cap or you hear a hissing sound, wait until the condition stops before fully removing the cap.
- Always make sure the fuel filler cap is installed securely to prevent fuel from spilling in the event of an accident.
Information
Always refuel your vehicle in accordance with the fuel requirements described in Chapter 1.
NOTICE
- Do not spill fuel on the exterior surfaces of the vehicle. Any type of fuel spilled on painted surfaces may damage the paint.
- If the fuel filler cap needs to be replaced, use only a genuine HYUNDAI cap or an equivalent specified for your vehicle. An incorrect fuel filler cap may result in a serious malfunction of the fuel system or emission control system.
