Close the tailgate by lifting it up and make sure both latches are properly engaged. This can be checked by pulling back on the gate.
WARNING
Always keep the tailgate fully closed while the vehicle is moving.
NOTICE
To avoid damage to the tailgate, support struts, and attached equipment, always close the tailgate before driving.
PLEDGE
Be careful not to place your hands between the tailgate and the truck bed when closing the tailgate.
Information
In cold and wet climates, the tailgate latch mechanism may not operate properly at extremely low temperatures.
WARNING
- Make sure both cables are properly connected and secured before using the tailgate or applying any load to it.
- Do not drive with the tailgate open, even at low speeds. This may result in death or personal injury.
- Before opening with the handle or remote key or smart key, make sure no one is in its path of travel.
- When removing the tailgate, make sure the tailgate is placed face up so as not to damage the rear camera.
WARNING
- Allowing passengers to ride in the truck bed or on the tailgate may result in death or serious injury in an accident. Make sure all passengers ride properly seated and wear their seat belts.
- Your vehicle should be locked and keys kept out of the reach of children. Parents should teach their children the dangers of playing in the cargo area.
