Description and Operation

Description

The input speed sensor is an essential device that measures the rotation speed of the input shaft in the transaxle and outputs a signal to the TCM. The sensor provides important input data used in feedback control, torque converter clutch control, shift speed control, line pressure control, clutch apply pressure control, and sensor failure diagnosis.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Use GDS to monitor the input/output speed sensor output signals.
    • Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
    • Connect the GDS to the Data Link Connector (DLC) located under the instrument panel.
    • Ignition switch ON and engine ON.
    • Check the input/output speed sensor signal waveforms at high and low speed.

DEPOSIT

  1. Remove the valve body. (Refer to Valve Body System - "Valve Body")
  2. Disconnect the input and output speed sensor connector (A) from the main harness.
  3. Remove the input and output speed sensor (B) after removing the bolts (2 pcs).
