Battery Charging

~1min read

Your vehicle is equipped with a calcium battery, which is maintenance-free.

  • If the battery is rapidly discharged (for example, if the headlights or interior lights were left on while the vehicle was parked), charge it slowly (trickle charge) for 10 hours.
  • If the battery is gradually discharged due to heavy loads during vehicle operation, charge it at 20-30 A for 2 hours.

WARNING

Observe the following precautions when charging the battery:

  • The battery should be removed from the vehicle and placed in a well-ventilated area.
  • Do not light cigarettes, create sparks, or bring open flame near the battery.
  • Monitor the battery during charging and stop charging or reduce the charging rate if the cells are gassing excessively or if the electrolyte temperature in a cell exceeds 49 °C.
  • Wear protective glasses to monitor the battery while it is being charged.
  • Disconnect the charger using the following procedure in the order shown.
    1. Turn off the charger main switch.
    2. Disconnect the negative clamp from the negative battery terminal.
    3. Disconnect the positive clamp from the positive battery terminal.
  • Before servicing or recharging the battery, turn off all accessories and stop the engine.
  • The negative battery cable must be disconnected first and reconnected last when the battery is disconnected.
