Driving Tips
• Never move the selector lever out of "P" (Park) or "N" (Neutral) into any other position while the accelerator pedal is depressed.
• Never move the lever into "P" (Park) while the vehicle is moving.
• Bring the vehicle to a complete stop before shifting into "R" (Reverse) or "D" (Drive).
• Never coast downhill in neutral. This can be very dangerous. Never shift into neutral while the vehicle is moving.
• Do not drive "on the brakes". This causes them to overheat and become damaged. Instead, when driving downhill for an extended distance, reduce speed and shift into a lower gear. This allows you to use engine braking.
• Reduce speed before shifting into a lower gear. Otherwise, the lower gear cannot be engaged.
• When parking, always apply the parking brake. Do not rely on moving the lever to "P" (Park) to hold the vehicle.
• Be extremely careful when driving on slippery surfaces. Use special caution when braking, accelerating or shifting gears. Sudden changes in speed on slippery roads may cause loss of traction of the drive wheels and loss of vehicle control.
• The best vehicle performance and maximum fuel economy are achieved by depressing and releasing the accelerator pedal smoothly.
WARNING
• Always wear your seat belt.
The chance of serious injury or death in a collision is much higher for an unbelted driver or passenger than for a belted one.
• Do not perform turns or U-turns at high speed.
• Do not make sudden steering movements, such as for a quick lane change or a sharp turn.
• If you are driving at high speed, the risk of rollover due to loss of control increases significantly.
• Loss of control often occurs when two or more wheels leave the road and the driver oversteers to return to the road.
• If your vehicle leaves the road, do not make sudden steering movements.
Instead, reduce speed before returning to the road.
• Never exceed the specified speed limits.
WARNING
If the vehicle is stuck in snow, mud, sand, or similar conditions, you may want to rock it back and forth to free it. Do not do this if people or objects are near the vehicle. While rocking, the vehicle may suddenly move forward or backward and injure people or damage objects nearby.
