Installing Snow Chains

~1min read

When installing chains, follow the chain manufacturer's instructions and tighten them as much as possible. Drive slowly with chains installed. If you hear the chains striking the body or chassis, stop and tighten them. If they still strike, reduce speed until the noise stops. Remove the chains as soon as you drive onto a clear road.

WARNING

- Installing Snow Chains

To install snow chains, park the vehicle on level ground away from traffic. Turn on the hazard warning lights and place the warning triangle behind the vehicle (if equipped). Before installing chains, always move the selector lever to "P" (Park), apply the parking brake, and stop the engine.

WARNING

- Snow Chains

• Using snow chains may adversely affect vehicle handling.
• Do not exceed 30 km/h or the chain manufacturer's recommended speed limit, whichever is lower.
• Drive carefully, avoiding bumps, potholes, sharp turns, and other road hazards that may cause the vehicle to bounce.
• Avoid sharp turns and braking with locked wheels.

Use High-Quality Ethylene Glycol Coolant

This coolant is filled into the cooling system at the factory. It is the only permitted type of coolant, as it helps prevent corrosion and freezing of the cooling system and lubricates the water pump. Replace or add coolant according to the maintenance intervals listed in Section 7. When preparing for winter, check the coolant freezing point against the temperatures expected in winter.
