- The lubricating, rust-protection, cooling, and cleaning effects of engine oil gradually deteriorate during use. Have the engine oil and filter replaced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer according to the engine oil information in the Maintenance Schedule at the beginning of this chapter.
- To keep the engine in optimal condition, use the recommended engine oil and filter. If the recommended engine oil and filter are not used, replace them according to the Severe Maintenance Schedule.
- The purpose of the engine oil change interval in the Maintenance Schedule is to prevent oil deterioration and is not related to oil consumption. Check and add engine oil regularly.
Information
If oil pressure is low due to insufficient engine oil, the Engine Oil Pressure warning light (
) illuminates. The enhanced engine protection system, which limits engine power, is activated, and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (
) illuminates. After sufficient engine oil is added, the Engine Oil Pressure warning light turns off, and engine power is no longer limited.
However, for the 2.5 Turbo gasoline engine, when engine oil pressure is restored, the warning light and the enhanced engine protection system are deactivated after the engine is restarted.
WARNING
Allow the engine to cool before replacing the oil.
