Removal

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Disconnect the brake tubes from the HECU by turning the nuts counterclockwise with a flare nut wrench. Tightening torque: ABS: 12.7 ~ 16.7 N·m ESC: 18.6 ~ 23 N·m [LHD]
    [Right-hand drive]
  3. Pull up the HECU connector lock, then disconnect the connector.
  4. Loosen the bolts (A) and nut (B) of the HECU bracket, then remove the HECU and bracket.

    Tightening torque: 16.7 ~ 26 N·m

    [Left-hand drive]
    [Right-hand drive]
    1. Never attempt to disassemble the HECU.
    2. The HECU must be transported and stored in.
    3. Never strike the HECU.
  5. Remove the 3 bolts, then remove the bracket from the HECU.

    Tightening torque: 10.8 ~ 13.7 N·m

Installation

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  2. Tighten the HECU mounting bolts and nuts to the specified torque.
  3. After installation, bleed the brake system. (Refer to ABS Bleeding)
  4. Variant Coding. 2WD and 4WD vehicles share the same HECU. To apply the correct vehicle, the HECU must undergo variant coding. Variant coding is required when:
    A. HECU is replaced.
    B. DTC C1702 is detected (variant coding error).
    Perform variant coding.
  5. Perform longitudinal sensor calibration. (Refer to ESC (Electronic Stability Control) — Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor)
