Loose Fuel Filler Cap Message

~1min read

After refueling, the vehicle diagnostic system may detect if the filler cap is possibly loose, improperly installed, or damaged. If the system detects a malfunction, the message "gASCAP" will be displayed in the odometer display. Tighten the fuel filler cap until a "click" is heard. This indicates that the fuel filler cap is properly tightened. Press the odometer reset button to clear the message. If the problem is not corrected, the message will appear again the next time the vehicle is started. This may indicate a damaged cap. If the problem is detected twice in a row, the system will illuminate the MIL. Correcting the problem will turn the MIL off.
