NOTE:
- Make sure there is no snow, ice, mud, dirt, or debris on the rear fascia/bumper to keep the ParkSense system functioning properly.
- Jackhammers, large trucks, and other vibrations may affect ParkSense performance.
- When ParkSense is turned off, the message "PARKSENSE OFF" will appear in the instrument cluster display. Also, once you turn ParkSense off, it will remain off until you turn it on again, even if you turn the ignition on.
- ParkSense will reduce the radio volume when the chime sounds.
- Regularly clean the ParkSense sensors, taking care not to scratch or damage them. The sensors must not be covered with ice, snow, slush, mud, dirt or debris. Failure to do so may cause the system to malfunction. The ParkSense system may fail to detect an obstacle behind the fascia/bumper, or may falsely indicate that an obstacle is behind the fascia/bumper.
- Use the ParkSense switch to turn on the parking assist feature. The detection system is turned off if objects such as bicycle racks, trailer hitches, etc. are placed within 12 inches (30 cm) of the rear fascia/bumper. Failure to observe this may cause the system to misinterpret a nearby object as a sensor fault, causing the "PARKSENSE UNAVAILABLE SERVICE REQUIRED" message to appear in the instrument cluster display.
- Drivers must use caution when backing up, even when using ParkSense. Always check carefully behind your vehicle, look behind you, and be sure to check for pedestrians, animals, other vehicles, obstructions, and blind spots before backing up. You are responsible for safety and must continue to pay attention to your surroundings. Failure to do so could result in serious injury or death.
- Before using ParkSense, it is strongly recommended that the trailer ball mount and trailer ball assembly be removed from the vehicle when not being used for towing. Failure to do so may result in injury or damage to vehicles or obstacles because the trailer ball will be much closer to an obstacle than the rear fascia when the vehicle emits a continuous tone. Also, the sensors may detect the ball mount and trailer ball assembly, depending on its size and shape, which may falsely indicate an obstacle behind the vehicle.
- ParkSense is only a parking assist system. It is not capable of detecting every obstacle, including small obstacles. Parking curbs may be detected temporarily or not detected at all. Obstacles located above or below the sensors will not be detected when they are in close proximity.
- The vehicle must be driven slowly when using ParkSense, so that it can be stopped when an obstacle is detected. It is recommended that the driver look over his/her shoulder when using ParkSense.
