FCA Warning Message and Control

~2min read

FCA provides warning messages and warning sounds according to collision risk levels in situations such as sudden braking of the vehicle ahead, lack of forward movement, or a collision with pedestrians or cyclists. It also controls the brakes according to collision risk levels.

The driver can select the initial warning activation timing in the settings menu of the infotainment system screen. Options for the forward collision initial warning include Normal or Late initial warning timing.

  • A warning message appears on the LCD display with a warning alarm.
  • The vehicle may slow down slightly.
    - It will operate if the vehicle speed is above 6 mph (10 km/h) and less than or equal to 180 km/h for the vehicle ahead. (Depending on the condition of the vehicle ahead and the surrounding environment, the possible maximum operating speed may be reduced.)
    - For pedestrians and cyclists, the vehicle speed is greater than or equal to 6 mph (10 km/h) and less than 70 km/h. (Depending on the condition of pedestrians and cyclists and the surrounding environment, the possible maximum operating speed may be reduced.)
  • FCA controls the brakes within certain limits to reduce the impact of a collision.
    - If you select "Warning Only", FCA is activated and provides only warning sounds according to collision risk levels. You must control the brakes directly because FCA does not control the brakes.

Emergency Braking (Second Warning)

  • A warning message appears on the LCD display with a warning alarm.
  • Maximum braking control immediately before a collision, reducing the impact when striking the vehicle ahead.
    - It will operate if the vehicle speed is above 6 mph (10 km/h) and less than or equal to 50 mph (80 km/h) for the vehicle ahead. (Depending on the condition of the vehicle ahead and the surrounding environment, the possible maximum operating speed may be reduced.)
    - For pedestrians and cyclists, the vehicle speed is greater than or equal to 10 km/h and less than 70 km/h. (Depending on the condition of pedestrians and cyclists and the surrounding environment, the possible maximum operating speed may be reduced.)
  • FCA controls the brakes only within certain limits of impact shock from a collision.
FCA controls maximum braking immediately before a collision.
    - If you select "Warning Only," FCA activates and only issues warnings according to the collision risk levels. You must control the brakes directly because FCA does not control the brakes.
