  • If the FCA system does not operate properly, the FCA indicator light () will illuminate and the warning message will appear for several seconds. After the message disappears, the master warning light () will illuminate. In this case, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
  • The FCA warning message may appear together with the ESC warning light illumination.

WARNING

  • FCA is only an auxiliary system for driver convenience. The driver has final responsibility for controlling and operating the vehicle safely. Do not rely solely on FCA. Rather, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, depress the brake pedal to reduce driving speed.
  • Under certain conditions and driving situations, FCA may activate unintentionally. In this case, an initial warning message appears on the LCD display with a warning sound. Also, in certain cases, the front radar sensor or camera recognition system may not detect a vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist ahead. FCA will not activate and no warning message will be displayed.
  • FCA may produce warning messages and warning sounds unnecessarily. Also, due to perception limitations, FCA may not produce a warning message or warning sound at all.
  • When there is a malfunction in FCA, braking control does not operate when a collision risk is detected, even though other braking systems are normally operating.
  • FCA operates only for vehicles/pedestrians ahead when driving forward. It does not operate for any animals or vehicles in reverse.
  • FCA does not recognize a vehicle crossing the intersection laterally or a vehicle parked laterally.
  • If the vehicle ahead stops suddenly, you may have less control of the braking system. Therefore, always maintain a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead.
  • FCA may activate during braking and the vehicle may stop suddenly. Also, the load in the vehicle may present a danger to passengers. Therefore, always consider the amount of cargo in the vehicle.
  • FCA may not activate if the driver presses the brake pedal to avoid the risk of a collision.
  • FCA does not operate when the vehicle is moving in reverse. In these circumstances, you must maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, press the brake pedal to reduce the driving speed to maintain a safe distance.
  • The normal braking function will operate normally even if there is a problem with the FCA brake control system or other functions. In this case, brake control will not operate in the event of an unavoidable collision.
  • FCA may not activate depending on road conditions, traffic on the road, weather, road surface condition, etc.
  • FCA may not activate in response to all types of vehicles.
