This indicator illuminates when the Engine Start/Stop button is in the ON position and turns off after approximately 3 seconds if the system is operating normally.
If the EPB warning light stays on, illuminates while driving, or does not illuminate when the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop button is turned to the ON position, this indicates a malfunction of the EPB.
In this case, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
The EPB warning light may illuminate together with the ESC warning light to indicate that ESC is not operating properly. This does not indicate a malfunction of the EPB.
CAUTION
- The EPB warning light may illuminate if the EPB switch is operating abnormally. Turn the engine off and restart it after a few minutes. The warning light will turn off and the EPB switch will operate normally. However, if the EPB warning light still remains illuminated, we recommend having the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
- If the parking brake indicator does not illuminate or flashes even though the EPB switch has been pulled up, the EPB is not applied.
- If the parking brake indicator flashes when the EPB warning light is illuminated, press the switch, then pull it up. Press it back to its original position and pull it up again. If the EPB warning light does not turn off, we recommend having the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
