Unfastened Seat Belt Warning

If the driver's seat belt is unfastened after the ignition is turned on, the seat belt warning lamp remains on until the belt is fastened.

If you continue to drive without fastening your seat belt and exceed 9 km/h, the warning lamp will flash until you drive below 6 km/h. (if equipped)

If you continue to drive without fastening your seat belt and exceed 20 km/h, the seat belt warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds and the corresponding warning lamp will flash. (if equipped)

If the front passenger seat belt is not fastened when the ignition switch is in the ON position, or if it is unfastened after the ignition is turned on, the corresponding seat belt warning lamp will remain illuminated until the belt is fastened.

If you continue to drive without fastening your seat belt and exceed 9 km/h, the warning lamp will flash until you drive below 6 km/h.

If you continue to drive without fastening your seat belt and exceed 20 km/h, the seat belt warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds and the corresponding warning lamp will flash.

WARNING

Riding in an incorrect position adversely affects the front passenger seat belt warning system. It is important for the driver to instruct the passenger on proper seating, as described in this manual.

✽ NOTICE

• The front passenger unfastened seat belt warning light is located in the center fascia panel.
• Even when the front passenger seat is unoccupied, the unfastened seat belt warning light will flash or illuminate for 6 seconds.
• The front passenger seat belt unfastened warning may activate when luggage is placed on the front passenger seat.

If the ignition switch is ON (engine not running) and a rear passenger lap/shoulder belt is not fastened, the corresponding seat belt unfastened indicator will illuminate until the belt is fastened.

The corresponding rear seat belt warning lamp will then illuminate for approximately 35 seconds if any of the following events occur:

- You start the engine when the rear seat belt is not fastened.
- You drive faster than 9 km/h when the rear seat belt is not fastened.
- The rear seat belt is unfastened while driving below 20 km/h.

If the rear seat belt is fastened, the warning light will turn off immediately.

If the rear seat belt is unfastened while driving at a speed above 20 km/h, the corresponding unfastened seat belt warning light will flash and a warning chime will sound for 35 seconds.

However, if the rear passenger lap/shoulder belt is fastened and unfastened twice within 9 seconds after being fastened, the corresponding warning light will not operate.
