Engine Start/Stop Button Location
OFF
With Manual Transmission
To turn off the engine (START/RUN position) or vehicle power (ON position), stop the vehicle, then press the engine start/stop button.
With Dual Clutch Transmission / Intelligent Variable Transmission
To turn off the engine (START/RUN position) or vehicle power (ON position), press the engine start/stop button with the shift lever in the P (Park) position. Vehicles Equipped with Anti-Theft Steering Column Lock
The steering wheel locks when the engine start/stop button is in the OFF position to protect against theft.
It locks when the driver's door is open.
If the steering wheel is not locked properly when you open the driver's door, a warning chime will sound. Try locking the steering wheel again. If the problem persists, have the system inspected by a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Also, if the engine start/stop button is in the OFF position after the driver's door is opened, the steering wheel will not lock and a warning chime will sound. If this occurs, close the door. The steering wheel will then lock and the chime will stop.
✽ NOTICE
If the steering wheel does not unlock properly, the engine start/stop button will not operate. Press the engine start/stop button while turning the steering wheel left and right to release the tension.
✽ NOTICE
You can turn off the engine (START/RUN) or vehicle power (ON) only when the vehicle is not moving.
CAUTION

WARNING
- Never press the engine start/stop button while the vehicle is moving. This may result in loss of steering and braking control, which could lead to an accident.
- The anti-theft steering column lock does not replace the parking brake. Before leaving the driver's seat, always make sure the shift lever is in P (Park), set the parking brake fully, and turn the engine off. Unexpected and sudden vehicle movement may occur if these precautions are not observed.
- Never reach through the steering wheel to the engine start/stop button or any other control while the vehicle is moving. The presence of your hand or arm in this area may cause loss of vehicle control, accident, and serious injury or death.
- Do not place any loose objects around the driver's seat, as they may move during driving, interfere with the driver, and cause an accident.
