Battery Saver Feature
- This feature is designed to prevent battery discharge if the headlights are left in the ON position. The system automatically turns off the parking lights 30 seconds after the key is removed from the ignition switch and the door is opened and closed.
- This feature automatically turns off the parking lights if, at night, the driver parks on the roadside and opens the driver's door. If you want the parking lights to remain on after the key is removed from the ignition switch, do the following: Open the driver's door. Turn off the parking lights and turn them on again using the light switch on the steering column.
Headlight Follow-Me Home Feature (if equipped)
If you turn the ignition key to the ACC or OFF position with the headlights in the ON position, the headlights remain on for approximately 30 minutes. However, if the driver's door is opened and closed, the headlights turn off after 15 seconds.
The headlights can be turned off by pressing the lock button on the transmitter (or smart key) twice or by turning the light switch to the OFF position.
CAUTION
If the driver exits the vehicle through any door other than the driver's door, the battery saving function does not operate and the headlight follow-me home function does not turn off automatically. This will discharge the battery. In this case, be sure to turn off the lights before exiting the vehicle.
Headlight Welcome Function (if equipped)
When the headlights (light switch in the HEADLIGHT or AUTO position) are on and all doors (and the tailgate) are locked and closed, the parking lights and headlights will turn on for 15 seconds if one of the following actions is performed.
- Without smart key system: When the door unlock button on the transmitter is pressed.
- With smart key system: When the door unlock button on the smart key is pressed.
During this time, if the door lock button is pressed, the parking lights and headlights turn off immediately.
Daytime Running Light (if equipped)
The daytime running lights (DRL) help other drivers see your vehicle during the day. The DRL can be useful in various driving conditions and are especially useful after sunrise and before sunset.
The DRL system turns off when:
- Headlamps on.
- The engine stops.
- Parking brake is applied.
Lighting Control

The light switch has headlamp and parking lamp positions.
To operate the lights, turn the knob on the end of the lever to one of the following positions:
(1) OFF position
(2) Parking and tail light position
(3) Headlight position
(4) Automatic light position (if equipped)
Parking and Tail Light (
)

When the light switch is in the parking light position (1st position), the tail lights, license plate lights and instrument panel lights come on.
Headlight position (
)

When the light switch is in the headlight position (2nd position), the headlights, tail lights, license plate lights and instrument panel lights come on.
✽ NOTICE
The ignition switch must be in the ON position to turn on the headlights.
Automatic Light Position (if equipped)

When the light switch is in the AUTO position, the tail lights and headlights automatically turn on or off depending on the amount of light outside the vehicle.
CAUTION
- Never place anything on the sensor (1) located on the instrument panel. This ensures better control of the automatic light system.
- Do not clean the sensor with window cleaner. A light film may remain that could interfere with sensor operation.
- If your vehicle has tinted glass or other metallic coatings on the front windshield, the automatic light system may not operate correctly.
High Beam

To turn on the high beams, push the lever away from you. Pull it back toward you for low beams.
The high beam indicator illuminates when the high beams are turned on.
To prevent battery discharge, do not leave the lights on for extended periods with the engine off.
WARNING
Do not use high beams when other vehicles are present. Use of high beams may impair the vision of other drivers.

To flash the headlights, pull the lever toward you. It returns to normal (low beam) when released. The headlight switch does not need to be on to use this flashing function.
Turn Signals and Lane Change Signals

The ignition key must be in the ON position for the turn signals to operate. To activate the turn signals, move the lever up or down (A). The green arrows on the instrument panel indicate which turn signal is operating. They cancel automatically after the turn is completed.
If the indicator continues to flash after turning, manually return the lever to the OFF position.
To signal a lane change, lightly move the turn signal lever and hold it in that position (B). The lever returns to the OFF position when released.
If the indicator continues to illuminate without flashing, or flashes abnormally, one of the turn signal bulbs may have burned out and need to be replaced.
One-Touch Lane Change Signal (if equipped)
To activate the one-touch lane change function, move the turn signal lever slightly for less than 0.7 seconds, then release it. The lane change signal will flash 3 times.
✽ NOTICE
If the indicator flashes abnormally fast or slow, a bulb may be burned out or there may be a poor electrical connection in the circuit.
Front Fog Light (if equipped)

Fog lights are used to improve visibility when visibility is poor due to fog, rain or snow, etc. The fog lights turn on when the fog light switch (1) is turned on after the headlights are turned on.
To turn off the fog lights, turn the fog light switch (1) to the OFF position.
CAUTION
While operating, the fog lights consume a large amount of vehicle battery power. Turn on the fog lights only in conditions of poor visibility.
