  • Never allow passengers to ride in the cargo area or on folded-down seatbacks. All occupants must sit upright, facing forward, with their backs against the seatback, be wearing their seat belts, and have their feet on the floor.
  • Passengers must not leave or change their seat while the vehicle is in motion. A passenger who is not wearing a seat belt during a collision or sudden braking may be thrown against vehicle components, other passengers, or out of the vehicle.
  • Do not use seat belt accessories. Devices that are claimed to provide greater comfort or to reposition the belt may reduce the protective effect of the seat belts and increase the risk of serious injury in a collision.
  • Passengers must not place hard or sharp-edged objects between themselves and the airbags. Carrying hard or sharp-edged objects on your lap or in your mouth may cause injury if an airbag is deployed.
  • Keep passengers away from the airbag covers. All occupants must sit upright, facing forward, with their backs against the seatback, be wearing their seat belts, and have their feet on the floor. If passengers are positioned too close to the airbag covers, they could be injured when an airbag deploys.
  • Do not attach or place objects on or near the airbag covers. Any objects attached or placed in front of or next to the airbag covers could interfere with the operation of the airbags.
  • Do not modify the front seats. Modification of the front seats could interfere with the operation of the SRS sensor components or the side airbags.
  • Do not place objects under the front seats. If objects are placed under the front seats, they could interfere with the operation of the SRS sensor components and the wiring.
  • Never hold a baby or child on your lap. A child may be seriously injured or killed in a collision. All babies and children must be secured in appropriate child restraint systems or with seat belts on the rear seats.

WARNING

  • Incorrect seating posture and position may cause occupants to be too close to a deploying airbag, strike vehicle components, or be thrown from the vehicle, which may result in serious injury or death.
  • Always sit upright and centered on the seat cushion, keep the seatback in an upright position, wear the seat belt, and keep your legs comfortably extended with your feet on the floor.
