EPB Malfunction Indicator

This light illuminates when the engine start/stop button is turned to the ON position and goes off after approximately 3 seconds if the system is operating normally.

If the EPB warning light remains on, illuminates while driving, or does not illuminate when the ignition key or engine start/stop button is turned to the ON position, the EPB may be malfunctioning.

In this case, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.

The EPB warning light may illuminate when the ESC indicator light is on, indicating that the ESC is not operating properly. This does not indicate a malfunction of the EPB.

CAUTION

• The EPB warning light may illuminate if the EPB switch operates abnormally. Turn off the engine and restart it after a few minutes. The warning light will turn off and the EPB switch will operate normally. However, if the EPB warning light still remains on, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
• If the parking brake indicator light does not illuminate or even flash although the EPB switch has been pulled up, the EPB is not applied.
• If the parking brake indicator light flashes when the EPB warning light is on, press the switch, then pull it up. Press it back to its original position again and pull it up. If the EPB warning does not go off, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized Kia dealer.
