Description and Operation

Description

The A/C pressure transducer (APT) measures the high-side line pressure and converts it into a voltage signal. Based on the converted voltage signal, the ECM controls the cooling fan operation at high or low speed. The ECM stops the compressor operation when the refrigerant line temperature is excessively high or low to optimize the air conditioning system.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Measure the high-side line pressure by measuring the output voltage between terminals "1" and "2".

  2. Check whether the voltage value is within the normal specification.

    Voltage = 0.00878835 * Pressure + 0.37081095

  3. If the measured voltage is not within specification, replace the A/C pressure transducer.

Replacement

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  2. Recover the refrigerant using a recovery/recharging station.

  3. Press the lock pin and disconnect the A/C pressure sensor connector (A).

  4. Remove the A/C pressure sensor (A).

    Tightening Torque: 9.8–11.8 N·m

  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
