Standard Maintenance Schedule - Gasoline Engine [Except Europe (Including Russia)]

The following maintenance must be performed to ensure good emissions control and performance. Keep receipts for all vehicle emissions services to protect your warranty. Where mileage and time are listed, the maintenance interval is determined by whichever occurs first.

NO. ITEM NOTICE
*1 Engine Oil and Engine Oil Filter Check the engine oil level and for leaks every 500 km (350 miles) or before a long trip.
*2 Engine Coolant When adding coolant, use only deionized water or soft water suitable for your vehicle. Never mix hard water with the factory-filled coolant. An improper coolant mixture may cause serious malfunction or engine damage.
*3 Drive Belts (Engine)
  • Adjust the generator, water pump and air conditioner (if equipped) drive belt. Inspect and repair or replace as necessary.

  • Inspect the drive belt tensioner, idler pulley and alternator pulley, and repair or replace as necessary.

*4 Valve Clearance Check for excessive valve noise and/or engine vibration and adjust if necessary. We recommend that the system be checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
*5 Spark Plug For your convenience, it may be replaced before its service life expires when you perform maintenance on other items.
*6 Manual transmission fluid Manual transmission fluid should be changed whenever the vehicle has been submerged in water.
*7 Fuel Additives (Gasoline) Kia recommends unleaded gasoline with a Research Octane Number (RON) of 95 / Anti-Knock Index (AKI) of 91 or higher (for Europe), or RON 91 / AKI 87 or higher (except Europe).
For customers who do not use good-quality gasoline, including fuel additives on a regular basis, and who experience starting problems or rough engine running, add one bottle of fuel additive to the fuel tank every 15,000 km (Europe, Australia and New Zealand) / 10,000 km (except Europe, Australia, New Zealand and China) / 5,000 km (China). Additives can be purchased from your authorized Kia dealer together with instructions for use. Do not mix other additives.

Standard Maintenance Schedule - Diesel Engine [Except Europe (Including Russia)]

*2 Engine Oil and Engine Oil Filter
(For Diesel Engine)
  • Check and maintain the engine oil level regularly. Operating with insufficient oil may damage the engine, and such damage is not covered by the warranty.

  • This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It applies only when certified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent"> is used. If the diesel fuel does not meet EN590 specifications, the vehicle must be serviced according to the severe maintenance schedule.

*3 Engine Coolant When adding coolant, use only deionized water or soft water suitable for your vehicle. Never mix hard water with the factory-filled coolant. An improper coolant mixture may cause serious malfunction or engine damage.
*4 Drive Belts (Engine)
  • Adjust the generator, water pump and air conditioner (if equipped) drive belt. Inspect and repair or replace as necessary.

  • Inspect the drive belt tensioner, idler pulley and alternator pulley, and repair or replace as necessary.

*5 Manual transmission fluid Manual transmission fluid should be changed whenever the vehicle has been submerged in water.
*6 Fuel Filter Cartridge (Diesel) This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. This applies only when using qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">. If diesel fuel does not meet the EN590 standard, it must be replaced more frequently. If there are any important safety issues, such as restricted fuel flow, surging, loss of power, starting problems, etc., immediately replace the fuel filter regardless of the maintenance schedule, and we recommend that you consult an authorized Kia dealer for detailed information.
