Theft Alarm Stage, Disarmed Stage

~1min read

Theft Stage

The alarm will be activated if any of the following occurs while the system is armed.

  • A front or rear door is opened without using the mechanical key or transmitter (or smart key).
  • The trunk/tailgate is opened without using the mechanical key or transmitter (or smart key).
  • The hood is opened.

The horn will sound and the hazard warning lights will flash continuously for approximately 27 seconds. To turn off the system, unlock the doors using the transmitter (or smart key).

Disarmed stage

The system will be disarmed when:

Transmitter

- The door unlock button is pressed.
- The engine is started (within 3 seconds).
- The ignition switch is in the "ON" position for 30 seconds or more.

Smart Key

- The door unlock button is pressed.
- The front outside door handle button is pressed while the electronic key is present.
- The engine is started (within 3 seconds).

After the doors are unlocked, the hazard warning lights will flash twice to indicate that the system is disarmed.

After the unlock button is pressed, if no door (or the trunk/tailgate) is opened within 30 seconds, the system will re-arm.

✽ NOTICE

  • Do not try to start the engine while the alarm is armed. The starter motor is disabled during the theft warning stage. If the system is not disarmed with the transmitter, insert the key into the ignition switch, turn the ignition key to the ON position and wait 30 seconds. The system will then be disarmed.
  • If you have lost your keys, contact an authorized Kia dealer.
