Tire Care

For proper maintenance, safety, and maximum fuel economy, always maintain the recommended tire pressure and remain within the load and weight distribution recommended for your vehicle.

Recommended Cold Tire Pressure

Check the pressure of all tires (including the spare) when the tires are cold. "Cold tires" means the vehicle has not been driven for at least three hours or has been driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile).

The recommended pressure must be maintained for better ride, better vehicle handling, and minimum tire wear.

For the recommended inflation pressure, refer to Tires and Wheels in Section 9.

All specifications (sizes and pressures) can be found on the label attached to the driver's side center pillar.

WARNING - Checking Tire Pressure

Inflate the tires in accordance with the instructions in this manual.

Check tire pressure regularly and adjust as necessary: at least twice a month and before a long trip.

If you do not observe this precaution, you may be driving on tires with incorrect tire pressure. This condition may not only compromise the vehicle's driving stability, but also cause tire damage and the risk of an accident.

This risk is much higher on hot days and during prolonged high-speed driving.

  • Low inflation pressure also causes excessive wear, poor handling, and reduced fuel economy. Wheel deformation is also possible. Keep tire pressure at the proper level. If a tire frequently requires air, have it checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
  • Overinflation results in a harsh ride, excessive wear in the center of the tread, and a greater likelihood of damage from road hazards.
  • Tire pressure in warm tires is usually higher than the recommended cold tire pressure by 28–41 kPa (4 to 6 psi). Do not release air from warm tires to adjust the pressure, or the tires will be underinflated.
  • Be sure to reinstall the valve caps. Without a valve cap, dirt or moisture may enter the valve core and cause air leakage. If a valve cap is missing, install a new one as soon as possible.
