For the FCA system to operate properly, always check that the sensor cover is closed or the sensor is clean and free of dirt, snow and debris.

Dirt, snow, or foreign matter on the lens may adversely affect the sensor performance.

Warning Message and Indicator

Kia Soul. FCA sensor (Front View Camera + Front Radar)

When the sensor cover is blocked by dirt, snow or debris, FCA operation may be temporarily stopped. In this case, a warning message appears to alert the driver.

This is not a malfunction of FCA. To use FCA again, remove the foreign substances.

FCA may not operate properly in areas (for example, open terrain) where no objects are detected after the vehicle is started.

WARNING

The FCA system may not activate without any warning message depending on driving conditions, road traffic, weather, road surface conditions, etc.

NOTICE

  • Do not install any accessories, such as a license plate frame or sticker, in the sensor area. Do not replace the bumper without authorization. This may adversely affect the operation of the sensors.
  • Always keep the sensor/bumper area clean.
  • Use only a soft cloth to wash the vehicle. Do not spray high-pressure water directly at the sensor installed in the bumper.
  • Be careful not to apply unnecessary force to the front sensor area. When the sensor is moved from its correct position due to external force, the system may not operate normally even without a warning lamp or message. In this case, have the vehicle inspected at a specialized workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
  • Use only a genuine Kia sensor cover. Do not paint the sensor cover arbitrarily.
  • Do not tint the windows or attach stickers or accessories around the inside rear view mirror where the camera is installed.
  • Make sure the front camera installation area does not get wet.
  • Do not strike or arbitrarily remove radar/camera components.
  • Do not place reflective objects (white paper, mirror, etc.) on the dashboard. The system may activate unnecessarily due to reflected sunlight.
  • Excessive audio volume may interfere with the system warning sound.
  • For additional precautions regarding the camera sensor, refer to "Lane Keeping Assist System" on page 6-99.
