FCA Warning Message and System Control

~2min read

FCA provides warning messages and warning sounds according to the collision risk levels of situations such as sudden braking of the vehicle ahead, or the distance to a vehicle or a collision with pedestrians or cyclists. In addition, it controls the brakes according to the collision risk level.

The driver can select the timing of the initial warning activation in the user settings on the LCD display. Options for the initial forward collision warning include: Normal or Late initial warning timing.

Kia Soul. FCA warning message and system control
  • A warning message appears on the LCD display together with warning chimes.
  • FCA controls the brakes within certain limits to reduce the impact of a collision.
    - If you select "Warning Only", the FCA system is activated and provides only warning sounds according to collision risk levels. You must control the brakes directly because the FCA system does not control the brakes.
  • The vehicle may slow down slightly — it will operate if the vehicle speed is greater than 10 km/h and less than or equal to 160 km/h with a vehicle ahead. (Depending on the condition of the vehicle ahead and the surrounding environment, the possible maximum operating speed may be reduced.)
    - For pedestrians and cyclists, the vehicle speed is greater than or equal to 10 km/h and less than 90 km/h. (Depending on the condition of pedestrians and cyclists and the surrounding environment, the possible maximum operating speed may be reduced.)

Emergency Braking (Second Warning)

  • A warning message appears on the LCD display together with warning chimes.
  • FCA controls the brakes within certain limits to reduce the impact of a collision.

FCA controls maximum braking immediately before a collision.

- If you select "Warning Only", the FCA system is activated and only issues warning alerts according to the collision risk levels. You must control the brake directly because the FCA system does not control the brake.

• Maximum braking control immediately before a collision reduces the impact when the vehicle hits the vehicle ahead.

- It will operate if the vehicle speed is greater than 10 km/h and less than or equal to 80 km/h with a vehicle ahead. (Depending on the condition of the vehicle ahead and the surrounding environment, the possible maximum operating speed may be reduced.)
- For pedestrians and cyclists, the vehicle speed is greater than or equal to 10 km/h and less than 70 km/h. (Depending on the condition of pedestrians and cyclists and the surrounding environment, the possible maximum operating speed may be reduced.)
