For the FCA system to operate properly, always check that the sensor is clean and free of dirt, snow, and debris.

Dirt, snow, or foreign matter on the lens may adversely affect the sensor performance.

Warning Message and Indicator

Kia Soul. FCA sensors (Front View Camera)

When the camera is blocked by dirt, snow, or debris, FCA operation may be temporarily stopped. In this case, a warning message appears to alert the driver.

This is not a malfunction of FCA. To use FCA again, remove the foreign substances.

WARNING

The FCA system may not activate without any warning message depending on driving conditions, road traffic, weather, road surface conditions, etc.

NOTICE

  • This may adversely affect the sensor performance.
  • Always keep the sensor clean and do not allow dirt or debris to get on it.
  • Be careful not to apply unnecessary force to the sensor. If the sensor is forcibly moved out of proper alignment, the FCA system may malfunction. In this case, a warning message may not be displayed. In this case, have the vehicle inspected at a professional workshop. Kia recommends visiting an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
  • Use only genuine parts for repair or replacement of damaged components.
  • Do not tint the windows or attach stickers or accessories around the inside rear view mirror where the camera is installed.
  • Make sure the front camera installation area does not get wet.
  • Do not strike or arbitrarily remove camera components.
  • Do not place reflective objects (white paper, mirror, etc.) on the dashboard. The system may activate unnecessarily due to reflected sunlight.
  • Excessive audio volume may interfere with the system warning sound.
  • For additional precautions regarding the camera sensor, refer to "Lane Keeping Assist System" on page 6-99.
