This function allows you to program the vehicle to maintain a relative distance to the vehicle ahead without pressing the accelerator pedal or brake pedal. The vehicle-to-vehicle distance is automatically activated when the Smart Cruise Control system is turned on.

Select an appropriate distance depending on road conditions and vehicle speed.

Each time the button is pressed, the vehicle-to-vehicle distance changes as follows:

For example, if you are driving at 90 km/h, the distance is maintained as follows:

Distance 4 - approximately 52.5 m
Distance 3 - approximately 40 m
Distance 2 - approximately 32.5 m
Distance 1 - approximately 25 m

NOTICE

The distance is set to the last selected distance when the system is used for the first time after starting the vehicle.

  • The vehicle will maintain the set speed when the lane ahead is clear.
  • The vehicle will decelerate or accelerate to maintain the selected distance when there is a vehicle ahead in your lane. (The vehicle will appear in front of your vehicle on the LCD only when there is an actual vehicle in front of you.)
  • If the vehicle ahead accelerates, your vehicle will accelerate to the set speed and then maintain a steady cruising speed.
  • If the distance to the vehicle ahead changes due to acceleration or deceleration of the vehicle ahead, the distance shown on the LCD may change.

WARNING

When using the Smart Cruise Control system:

  • A warning message appears and a warning chime sounds if the vehicle cannot maintain the selected distance to the vehicle ahead.
  • If a warning message appears and a warning chime sounds, press the brake pedal to actively adjust the vehicle speed and distance to the vehicle ahead.
  • Even if no warning message appears and no warning chime sounds, always pay attention to driving conditions to prevent hazardous situations from occurring.
  • Playing the car audio system at high volume may prevent the system from detecting warning sounds.

CAUTION

If a vehicle ahead (vehicle speed: less than 30 km/h) disappears from the lane ahead, a warning chime sounds and a message appears. Adjust your vehicle speed for vehicles or objects that may suddenly appear ahead by pressing the brake pedal, depending on the road conditions ahead and driving conditions.
