IN AN EMERGENCY

Towing Eye - Rear

~1min read

The towing eye located under the rear bumper on the driver's side is used for securing the vehicle during transport, not for towing other vehicles.

It may be used as a towing eye only when the vehicle must be towed by another vehicle in an emergency, e.g., if the vehicle gets stuck in a snowdrift. However, there is a risk of damaging the bumper.

CAUTION

If the towing eye is used in such an emergency, observe the following instructions to avoid damaging the towing eye or the vehicle body.

  • Pull the vehicle straight back so that no lateral load is applied.
  • There is a risk of damaging the bumper when using this component as a towing eye.
  • When using a metal chain or steel cable, wrap them with a cloth around the attachment area.

Direct contact of a metal chain or steel cable with the bumper may scratch or damage the bumper.
