Towing Your Vehicle

~1min read

When towing your vehicle, make sure all applicable regulations in the province (or state, in the United States) are observed. Using improper towing equipment could damage your vehicle.

Towing guidelines are available from your NISSAN dealer. Local towing services are generally familiar with towing laws and procedures. NISSAN therefore recommends using a towing service to ensure that towing is performed correctly and to avoid damaging your vehicle. It may be helpful to ask the towing service operator to carefully read the following precautions:

WARNING

  • Never ride in a vehicle that is being towed.
  • Never get under a vehicle that is raised by a tow truck.

WARNING

  • When towing, make sure the transmission, axles, steering, and drivetrain are operating properly. If any of these conditions exist, towing must be done using a tow dolly or a flatbed truck.
  • Always install safety chains before towing.

For more information on towing your vehicle behind a recreational vehicle, refer to the "Flat Towing" section of the "Technical Data and Consumer Information" chapter of this manual.
