Read the following instructions and precautions carefully before using a booster battery to start your vehicle's engine.
WARNING
- Improper jump starting can cause the battery to explode, resulting in serious injury or death. Your vehicle may also be damaged.
- The battery constantly releases hydrogen, which is an explosive gas.
Keep sparks and open flames away from the battery.
Using a battery with a different voltage can damage your vehicle.
It could explode and cause serious injury.

WARNING
Always follow the instructions below.
Otherwise, the charging system could be damaged and you could be injured.
- If the booster battery is in another vehicle, position the two vehicles so that their respective batteries are close to each other.
However, make sure the vehicles do not touch.
- Set the parking brake. Move the selector lever to the P (Park) position.
WARNING
- Always make sure to connect the positive (+) terminal to the positive (+) terminal, and connect the negative (-) terminal to a body ground point (for example, a pillar mounting bolt or an engine lifting bracket), not to the negative battery terminal.
- Make sure the jumper cables do not contact any moving parts in the engine compartment and that the cable clamps do not touch any other metal parts.
- Start the engine of the assisting vehicle and let it run for a few minutes.
- Maintain the engine speed of the assisting vehicle at approximately 2,000 rpm, and start the engine of the vehicle with the dead battery.
WARNING
Do not operate the starter motor for more than 10 seconds. If the engine does not start on the first attempt, turn the ignition off and wait 3 to 4 seconds before trying again.
- Once the engine is running, carefully disconnect the negative cable, then the positive cable from the battery.
- Reinstall the battery vent caps (depending on vehicle equipment). Discard the old rag used to cover the battery, as it may have been contaminated with corrosive electrolyte.
