In this case, the RENAULT card must not be in the boot.

Special notes

Vehicles with automatic gearbox

The selector lever must be in position P.

All vehicles

  • If any of the starting conditions is not met, the message "press brake + start", "press clutch + start" or "select P" is displayed on the instrument panel;
  • In some cases, you will need to turn the steering wheel while pressing start button 1 to help unlock the steering column; the message "turn steering wheel + start" will warn you;
  • when starting the engine in very low outside temperatures (below -10 °C): keep the clutch pedal pressed until the engine starts.

Accessory function

Fonction accessoires

(Ignition on) as soon as you access your vehicle, you can use certain functions (radio, navigation, wipers, etc.).

To use the other features:

  • vehicles equipped with a RENAULT card with remote control: insert the card into reader 2;
  • vehicles equipped with a RENAULT "hands-free" card: card in the passenger compartment or inserted into card reader 2, press button 1 without pressing any pedals.

Note: depending on the vehicle, pressing button 1 starts the engine.

Never leave your vehicle with the RENAULT card in the card reader, even for a short time, if a child (or an animal) is left inside.

This is because they could endanger themselves or others by starting the engine.

Risk of serious injury.

Malfunction

In some cases, the RENAULT "hands-free" card may not work:

  • wear of the RENAULT card battery, discharged vehicle battery...
  • Proximity to a device operating on the same frequency (display, mobile phone, video games, etc.);
  • Vehicle located in an area with strong electromagnetic radiation.

The "insert card" message appears on the instrument panel.

Insert the Renault card fully into card reader 2.

Engine stop conditions

Conditions d'arrêt du moteur

The vehicle must be stationary, with the selector lever in N or P for vehicles with an automatic gearbox.

Special feature

Depending on the vehicle, the accessories (radio, etc.) switch off either when the engine is stopped, when the driver's door is opened, or when the doors are locked.

RENAULT card with remote control

Card in reader 2, press button 1: the engine stops. In this case, removing the card from the reader locks the steering column.

Special feature

If the card is no longer in the reader when you request engine stop, the "card absent, long press" message appears on the instrument panel: press and hold button 1 for more than two seconds.

RENAULT "hands-free" card

Card in the vehicle, press button 1: the engine stops. The steering column locks when the driver's door is opened or when the vehicle is locked.

If the card is no longer in the passenger compartment when you request engine stop, the "card absent, long press" message appears on the instrument panel: press and hold button 1 for more than two seconds.

When you leave the vehicle, especially with the Renault card on you, make sure the engine is switched off.

Never leave the vehicle with the Renault card inside and a child (or an animal) left in it, even for a short time.

The child could start the vehicle or operate electrical equipment (window lifters, etc.) and risk trapping a part of the body (neck, arm, hand, etc.).

Risk of serious injury.

Never switch off the ignition before the vehicle has come to a complete stop. Stopping the engine cancels power assistance (brakes, steering, etc.) and passive safety systems such as airbags and pretensioners.
