Tyre pressure loss warning

~4min read
Avertisseur de perte de pression des pneumatiques

When fitted, this system warns the driver of a loss of pressure in one or more tyres while driving.

Operating principle

Each wheel (except the spare wheel) has a sensor in the valve that periodically measures tyre pressure while driving.

The warning light1 lights steadily to
warn the driver of low tyre pressure.

Resetting the tyre pressure reference value

Réinitialisation de la valeur de référence de la pression des pneumatiques

Reset the reference value:

  • When the reference tyre pressure must be changed to suit the driving conditions (unladen, laden, motorway driving, etc.);
  • After swapping wheels (this practice is not recommended);
  • After changing a wheel;

Always check the cold tyre pressures of all four tyres before resetting.

The inflation pressures must match the vehicle's usual use (unladen, laden, motorway driving, etc.).

This function is an additional driving aid.

However, the function does not take the place of the driver.

It can therefore in no case replace the driver's attention or responsibility.

Check the tyre pressures, including the spare wheel, once a month.

Réinitialisation de la valeur de référence de la pression des pneumatiques

With the engine off:

  • Briefly press button 3 or 4 to select the "tyre pressure learning" function on display 2;
  • Press and hold button 3 or 4 (about 3 seconds) to start the reset. The message "TP learning started" confirms that the reference pressure learning request has been accepted;

The reset is completed after a few minutes of driving.

Note

The reference pressure value cannot be lower than the recommended value shown on the driver's door edge label.

Display

Display 2 on the instrument panel informs you of any inflation faults (deflated tyre, punctured tyre, etc.).

Tyre pressure to be readjusted

The warning lightlights steadily
with the message "Tyre pressure to be readjusted". They indicate that at least one tyre is under-inflated.

Check and readjust the pressures of all four tyres, if necessary, when cold. The warning lightgoes out after a few
minutes of driving.

Flat tire

The warning lightlights steadily
with the message "puncture".

This message indicates that at least one tyre is punctured or severely under-inflated. Replace it or contact a Renault dealer if it is punctured. Re-inflate the tyre if it is under-inflated.

This message is accompanied by the warning light .

A sudden loss of tyre pressure (tyre blowout, etc.) may not be detected by the system.

The warning light requires you to stop immediately and safely, for your own safety.

Tyre sensors to be checked

The warning lightflashes
for several seconds, then lights steadily, with the message "Tyre sensors to be checked".

This message is accompanied by the warning light .

This message appears when at least one wheel without sensors is fitted to the vehicle (e.g. the spare wheel). In other cases, contact a Renault dealer.

Readjusting tyre pressure

Pressures must be adjusted when the tyres are cold (refer to the label on the driver's door edge).

If the pressure cannot be checked on cold tyres, increase the recommended pressures by 0.2 to 0.3 bar (3 psi).

Never deflate a hot tyre.

Replacing wheels/tyres

This system requires specific equipment (wheels, tyres, wheel trims, etc.).

Consult a Renault dealer for tyre replacement and for the accessories compatible with the system and available from the Renault network: using any other accessory may affect the proper operation of the system.

Spare wheel

When fitted, the spare wheel has no sensor. When it is fitted to the vehicle, the message "Tyre sensors to be checked" appears on the instrument panel.

Tyre repair sealant aerosols and inflation kit

Due to the specific design of the valves, only use equipment approved by the Renault network.
