~1min read

Meeting certain conditions prevents the engine from entering standby mode:

  • reverse gear is engaged;
  • the bonnet is not locked;
  • the driver's door is not closed;
  • the driver's seat belt is not fastened;
  • the outside temperature is too high or too low (below approx. 0°C or above approx. 30°C);
  • the battery is not sufficiently charged;
  • the difference between the interior temperature and the temperature set on the automatic climate control is too high;
  • the gradient is greater than approx. 12% for vehicles with automatic transmission;
  • the "Clear view" function is on (see the "Automatic climate control" section in chapter 3);
  • the engine has not reached operating temperature;
  • the exhaust emission control system is regenerating; or
  • ...

The warning lamp comes on
or, depending on the vehicle version, the message "AUTOSTOP FUNCTION UNAVAILABLE" appears on the instrument panel, indicating that standby mode is not available.

Deactivate the Stop and Start function before carrying out any work in the engine compartment.
