F8Q engine specifics

Remove (from above):

  • the battery,
  • the battery support,
  • the HP and LP hoses on the steering valve.

Cut the rubber boot retaining clamp and push the boot back towards the bulkhead.

Disconnect the track rod ends using tool T.Av. 476.

Remove the cam bolt of the folding clevis.

Disconnect the oxygen sensor.

Remove the exhaust downpipe.

Remove the bolt (engine side) of the torque reaction link and pivot the powertrain forward.

Fit a retaining spacer.

Boîtier de direction assistée

Disconnect the high-pressure and low-pressure lines at the steering gear (allow for oil drainage), and the nut of the hose retaining bracket.

Boîtier de direction assistée

Remove:

  • the two nuts of the heat shield on the right-hand steering gear mount,
  • the steering gear mounting nuts, then remove the steering gear from the timing belt side.

NOTE:

  • do not disassemble the valve-to-cylinder lines,
  • fit plugs in the steering gear ports to prevent contaminants from entering.

INSTALLATION

Carry out refitting in the reverse order of removal, observing the tightening torques.

Fill the fluid circuit.

Turn the wheels from lock to lock (engine off) to distribute the fluid through the circuit.

Repeat the operation with the engine running, then top up the level to the correct mark.

When fitting a new steering gear, refit the tie-rod ends in the position marked during removal.

To do this, loosen the track rod adjuster sleeve clamp bolt and unscrew the tie-rod end while holding the axial ball joint with an open-ended spanner.

Make a mark or count the number of thread turns engaged to pre-set toe when refitting.

Check the toe setting.
