Wheel change

~3min read
! Switch on the hazard warning lights. Park the vehicle clear of traffic on level, non-slip, firm ground (if necessary, place a solid support under the jack base). Apply the parking brake and engage first gear or reverse, or select P for automatic gearboxes. Have all occupants get out of the vehicle and keep them away from the traffic area.

If necessary, remove the wheel trim.

Loosen the wheel bolts using wheel brace 2. Position it so that you can push down on it.

Start to extend jack 4 by hand, turning the crank handle.

Position the jack head correctly on the sheet-metal support 1 closest to the wheel concerned, at the point marked by a triangle (depending on the vehicle). If the ground is soft, place a board under the jack base.

Continue turning to seat the jack base correctly on the ground. Turn crank handle 3 of the jack to lift the wheel off the ground.

If the vehicle is not equipped with a jack, wheel brace, etc., you can obtain them from a brand representative.

! If parked on the verge of the road, warn other road users of your vehicle's presence using a warning triangle or other devices required by the law of the country where you are. ! To avoid any risk of injury or damage to the vehicle, raise the jack until the wheel to be replaced is no more than 3 cm off the ground.

Remove the bolts and take off the wheel.

For vehicles fitted with aluminium wheels, use the bolt guide located in the tool kit to finish removing and start refitting the bolts.

Fit the spare wheel onto the central hub and turn it so that the fixing holes of the wheel and hub line up.

Tighten the bolts and lower the jack.

If bolts are supplied with the spare wheel, use these bolts only for the spare wheel.

Tighten the bolts, making sure the wheel seats correctly against the hub, then lower the jack.

With the wheels on the ground, tighten the bolts firmly and have the tightening checked as soon as possible (tightening torque 110 N.m).

Anti-theft bolts

If you use anti-theft bolts, position them as close as possible to the valve (risk of being unable to fit the wheel trim).

! In the event of a puncture, replace the wheel as soon as possible. A punctured tyre must always be inspected (and repaired if possible) by a specialist.
