Evaporator

REMOVAL
Disconnect the battery.
Recover the R134a refrigerant circuit using the charging station.
Disconnect the R134a connecting pipes (bolt 1) from the expansion valve.
Fit caps to the pipes and to the expansion valve.
Remove:
the wiper arms,
the air intake grille,
the six bolts (A) securing the water box cover plate (2) and remove it,
the evaporator cover in the water box.
Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) and the earth wires (5).
Remove the intermediate duct (6) between the evaporator housing and the heater fan unit.

Move the dashboard aside by removing:
the six bolts securing the steering column,
NOTE: take care to protect the parts of the dashboard that could be damaged using cloths.
Remove the two evaporator housing mountings located behind the passenger-side dashboard.
Remove it.
Carefully withdraw the evaporator from the housing.
INSTALLATION
Check that the harness pipes are not touching each other (risk of noise).
Reverse the removal procedure.
Tighten the retaining nut (refrigerant lines to expansion valve) to 0.8 daN.m (check the condition of the seals).
NOTE: when refitting the dashboard, check:
that the wiring harness is correctly positioned,
that the air flow ducts are correctly refitted (e.g. glovebox).
Evacuate the system, then charge the R134a refrigerant circuit using the recharging station.
IMPORTANT
When replacing the evaporator, add 30 ml of P.A.G. SP 10 oil to the circuit.
Use this same oil when refitting the seals, making sure they are correctly positioned.
