Deactivating and activating the front passenger airbag

Deactivating the front passenger airbag (on vehicles so equipped)
To install a child seat on the front passenger seat, you must deactivate the front passenger airbag.

To deactivate the airbag: with the vehicle stopped, push and turn the lock 1 to the OFF position.
Ignition on, make sure the indicator 2
is lit
on the central display and, depending on the vehicle, the message “Passenger airbag deactivated” is displayed.
This indicator stays on continuously as long as the airbag is deactivated.
Activating or deactivating the passenger airbag must be done with the vehicle stopped.
If the controls are operated while the vehicle is moving, the indicators
and
light up.
To restore the airbag status to match the lock position, switch the ignition off and then back on.

DANGER
Because the front passenger airbag deploys in a way that is incompatible with a rearward-facing child seat, NEVER use a rearward-facing child restraint on a seat protected by an ACTIVE AIRBAG located in front of it. This may result in the DEATH of the CHILD or SERIOUS INJURY.

The markings on the dashboard and the labels A on each side of the passenger sun visor 3 (see the example above) remind you of these instructions.

Activating the front passenger airbag
As soon as you remove the child seat from the front passenger seat, reactivate the front passenger airbag to protect the front passenger in the event of a collision.
To reactivate the airbag: with the vehicle stopped, push and turn the lock 1 to the ON position.
Ignition on, make sure the indicator 2
is off.
The front passenger airbag is activated.

Operating faults
If a fault is detected when activating or deactivating the front passenger airbag, installing a rearward-facing child seat on the front seat is prohibited.
Installing any other passenger is not recommended.
Consult a brand representative as soon as possible.
