I - CHECKING THE FUEL VAPOUR CANISTER PURGE OPERATION
Note: A malfunction of the system may cause unstable idling or engine stalling.
- Intake manifold
- Fuel vapour canister purge solenoid valve
- Fuel vapour canister
- Reservoir
- Atmospheric vent
- Check the circuit conformity (Emission Control chapter, Petrol Injection Functional Description, page 14A-1).
- Check the condition of the pipes up to the fuel tank.
II - FUEL VAPOUR CANISTER PURGE CONDITIONS
- The fuel vapour canister purge solenoid valve is controlled by the C-E1 circuit of the computer when:
- the coolant temperature is above 55 °C,
- the intake air temperature is above 10 °C,
- the engine is not at idle speed,
- a given load threshold is reached,
- the throttle potentiometer position is not "accelerator released".
During an "on board diagnostic" check, fuel vapour canister purging is not permitted.
The duty cycle of the fuel vapour canister purge solenoid valve can be viewed with the diagnostic tools by checking parameter PR102: "Fuel vapour canister purge solenoid valve duty cycle".
The solenoid valve is closed for a value below 1.2 %.
