Injection warning light
The S 3000 injection system manages the illumination of three warning lights and the display of warning messages according to the severity level of the detected faults, in order to inform the customer and guide diagnosis.
The injection computer manages the illumination and display of the warning lights and warning messages on the instrument panel.
These warning lights illuminate during the starting phase, in the event of an injection fault or engine overheating.
The warning light illumination information is sent to the instrument panel via the multiplexed network.
WARNING LAMP OPERATING PRINCIPLE
1 - During the starting phase, press the start button ("START")
The "on board diagnostic" warning light illuminates for approximately 3 seconds, then goes out.
2 - In the event of an injection fault (severity 1)
The message "injection to be checked" is displayed, followed by the "service" warning light. This implies reduced operation and a limited safety level.
The user must have the repairs carried out as soon as possible.
These faults are related to:
- the electronic throttle body,
- the accelerator pedal potentiometer,
- the intake pressure sensor,
- the computer,
- the power supply to the actuators,
- the power supply to the computer.
3 - In the event of a serious injection fault (severity 2)
The red engine symbol and the word "STOP" (matrix display only) appear with the message "injection fault", followed by the "STOP" warning light and an audible warning.
4 - In the event of engine overheating
The engine temperature fault symbol (matrix display only) appears with the message "engine overheating", followed by the "STOP" warning light and an audible warning. In this case, the vehicle must be stopped immediately.
5 - When a fault causing excessive exhaust emissions is detected
The "on board diagnostic" warning light, symbolised by an engine, illuminates:
- "flashing" in the event of a fault that could cause catalytic converter damage (destructive misfires). In this case, the vehicle must be stopped immediately.
- "steady" in the event of non-compliance with emissions standards (polluting misfires, catalytic converter fault, oxygen sensor fault, inconsistency between the oxygen sensors and a fuel vapour absorber fault).
