Air quality - Clean Zone Interior Package (CZIP)*. Air quality - IAQS*. Menu settings - Climate
The Clean Zone Interior Package (CZIP) of the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) was developed specifically for allergy and asthma sufferers. This section describes how the system keeps the interior free of pollutants and particles through pre-ventilation and an air quality system. It also explains the functions of the IAQS and the recommended filter service intervals. Information on adjustment via the menu system completes the section and supports healthy interior air.
Air quality - Clean Zone Interior Package (CZIP)*
CZIP includes a series of modifications that keep the vehicle interior even more free of substances that cause allergies and asthma.
This includes:
- A built-in ventilation function in which the blower starts when the vehicle is unlocked with the transponder key. The blower fills the interior with fresh air. The function starts when needed and switches off automatically after a while, or when the doors to the vehicle interior are opened. The run time of the blower is gradually reduced as the need decreases, until the vehicle is 4 years old.
- The IAQS air quality system is a fully automatic system that cleans the air in the vehicle interior of pollutants such as particles, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and ground-level ozone.
To maintain the CZIP standard in vehicles with CZIP, the IAQS filter must be replaced after 15,000 km or once a year, whichever occurs first. However, no more than 75,000 km within 5 years. In vehicles without CZIP, and if the customer does not wish to maintain the CZIP standard, the IAQS filter must be replaced during regular service.
For more information on CZIP, see the brochure supplied with the vehicle at purchase.

Air quality - IAQS*
The IAQS air quality system separates gases and particles from the air and reduces pollutants and unpleasant odors in the vehicle interior.
If the outside air is polluted, the air intake is closed and the air is recirculated within the vehicle interior.
The function can be activated/deactivated in the MY CAR menu system. For more information on the menu system, see MY CAR.
CAUTIONFor the best possible air in the vehicle interior, the air quality sensor should always be switched on.
In cold weather, recirculation is limited to prevent fogging.
If the windows fog up, switch off the air quality sensor and use the defrost functions for the windshield and side windows, including the rear window.
