The Engine and Interior Heater of the Volvo S80 (2nd generation, 2013–2016) can be conveniently activated by direct start via the display, transponder key or mobile phone. This section explains the individual operating methods and the signals that confirm activation. It also describes how the driver checks the heater status and which display elements are used. This keeps control simple and safe, even from a distance.

You can switch on the Engine and Interior Heater directly.

Direct start is possible via:

  • Information display
  • Transponder key*
  • Mobile phone*.

When the Engine and Interior Heater is started directly, it remains active for 50 minutes.

Warming of the vehicle interior begins as soon as the coolant in the engine has reached the correct temperature.

CAUTION

The vehicle can be started and driven while the heater is switched on.

Direct start via the information display

  1. Press OK to access the menu.
  2. Use the thumbwheel to scroll step by step to Heater and select it with OK.
  3. In the next menu, scroll further to Direct Start to activate the heater, and confirm with OK.
  4. Exit the menu with RESET.

The Engine and Interior Heater can be activated with the transponder key:

- Press and hold the follow-me-home lighting buttonfor two seconds.

The hazard warning lights signal as follows: 5 flashes, then approx. 3 seconds of steady light – signal received, heater activated. 5 flashes – signal received, but heater not activated. Hazard warning lights stay off – signal not received.

When the information buttonWhen the heater is activated and the button is pressed, the indicator lamp shows the corresponding status. At the same time, the vehicle's locking status is displayed. While the status is being determined, the indicator lamp flashes briefly several times. If the heater is active, the lamp then stays on continuously.

While the heater is running, the status is also shown in the trip computer.

Remote start with mobile phone*

Activation and information on the selected settings are available via mobile phone in the Volvo On Call* app.
